Fox News host Bret Baier is set to interview Vice President Kamala Harris, prompting supporters of former President Donald Trump to claim that he will give her an easy time. Baier took to social media to correct these claims, stating that there were no preconditions to the interview and that no one, aside from himself, had the questions ahead of time. He assured followers that no topic would be off the table and minimal editing would be done for timing purposes.

Baier’s response came after Trump criticized him for being “soft” and supporters suggested that Harris must have been given the questions in advance. Baier refuted these claims, stating that the interview would be as-live, without any editing, interruptions, or changes. He also confirmed that the interview would be conducted just before his live show, at the time the vice president’s campaign had allotted for the interview.

The clash between Baier and Trump dates back to a presidential debate in September, when Fox News proposed another debate moderated by Baier and Martha MacCallum. However, Trump expressed a preference for Jesse Watters, a more partisan host, to moderate the event. Baier later accused Trump of being the one holding up a second debate, not Harris, and questioned the former president’s reluctance to face his rival again.

Beyond his upcoming interview with Harris, Baier has extended weekly invitations to Trump to appear on his show. In a separate event on Wednesday, the former president is scheduled to participate in a town hall on Fox News, where an all-female audience will be featured during the airing. Baier’s reputation as a fair journalist and host of Fox’s flagship political program, Special Report, has positioned him at the center of this controversy, with his statements on social media seeking to dispel unfounded claims of favoritism or preconditions in the upcoming interview.
