The bodies of two women who went missing earlier this year in rural Oklahoma were found buried on a farming property with ties to the grandmother of one of the women’s children. Veronica Butler, 27, and Jilian Kelley, 39, disappeared on March 30 in Texas County, Oklahoma, where they were allegedly lured by suspects plotting to kill them. Authorities found evidence of severe injuries at the scene where their car was abandoned, including blood and missing items. Their remains were discovered inside a chest freezer buried in a pasture on April 13.

The property where the bodies were found belonged to a man who rented it for cattle grazing and had access to it at any time. The grandmother’s boyfriend, Tad Bert Cullum, had carried out a project on the property a few days before the women went missing. Cullum, along with his significant other, Tiffany Machel Adams, the grandmother of Butler’s children, was arrested in connection with the murders. Adams’ son, Wrangler Rickman, was in a rehabilitation center during the time of the killings.

The suspects were allegedly part of a group called “God’s Misfits” and had a religious affiliation. In court documents, it was revealed that Adams had been seeking full custody of Butler’s children and had accused Butler of failing to protect them from a violent brother. The investigation uncovered previous unsuccessful attempts to kill Butler in Kansas, as well as death threats made by Adams and Cullum. All five suspects were charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping, and one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

An anti-government group called “God’s Misfits” reportedly held regular meetings at the Twombly home, where the suspects allegedly planned the murders. Cora and Cole Twombly, along with Paul Grice, were also arrested in connection with the killings. The suspects face possible lifetime prison sentences or the death penalty in Oklahoma if convicted. The case involves a complex and grisly scheme allegedly devised by the suspects to end a custody battle between Adams and Butler, which ultimately led to the deaths of the two women. The investigation into the murders continues as authorities piece together the events leading up to the killings.
