Billie Eilish recently revealed the extreme measures she took to capture the cover image of her new album, Hit Me Hard and Soft. The singer spent six hours underwater with a weight strapped to her body to ensure she stayed in the water for the perfect shot. She described the experience as real and shared that she was fully clothed during the shoot, wearing multiple layers of clothing and a weight strapped to her. Despite the discomfort she felt, Eilish explained that she needs to suffer for her art and often thinks about the visual aspect of a project before considering how it will make her feel.

During an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Eilish also discussed the meaning behind one of the songs on her new album, “Lunch,” where she opens up about her attraction to women. The lyrics of the song express her feelings towards women and the realization of her sexuality. Eilish shared that writing the track helped her embrace her sexuality and revealed that she has been in love with girls for her entire life. She initially did not plan on speaking about her sexuality but felt frustrated when it became a topic of discussion in interviews.

In an interview with Rolling Stone in April, Eilish discussed how the song “Lunch” was a significant part of her journey towards understanding and accepting her sexuality. She mentioned that she initially wrote part of the song before exploring her feelings towards women and completed it after realizing her attraction to them. Eilish shared her experiences and emotions surrounding her sexuality, expressing her frustration at having to discuss it publicly. She first revealed her physical attraction to women in an interview with Variety in November.

Eilish also touched on the risks she takes during photo shoots, acknowledging that she has almost died multiple times while trying to capture the perfect shot. She explained that her focus is primarily on the visual aspect of a project and often pushes herself to endure uncomfortable situations for the sake of art. Eilish’s dedication to her craft is evident through her willingness to go to extreme lengths for creativity, even if it means putting herself in potentially dangerous or uncomfortable situations. Despite the challenges she faces, Eilish’s commitment to her artistry and expression shines through in her music and public appearances.
