Beyoncé Knowles, the acclaimed musician and entrepreneur, is expanding her business empire into the world of country music with the launch of a new whiskey brand called “SirDavis.” This move is significant as it places Beyoncé in the same industry that helped her husband, Jay Z, become a billionaire. The launch of SirDavis has the potential to push Beyoncé closer to the same title, depending on its performance in the market.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday morning, Beyoncé revealed the brand with a photo of herself holding a glass of dark liquid, captioning it “DAVIS IN MY BONES.” The initial images of the beverage showcase a custom leather case housing a ribbed glass bottle, which features a logo with the famous horse Reneigh, previously seen on the cover of Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” album. A trademark application for the brand was filed by Moët Hennessy, a subsidiary of luxury goods brand LVMH, in June with the tagline “The future of whisky is here.”

Beyoncé’s estimated net worth was $760 million in May, derived from her music career and other ventures like her Ivy Park clothing line, collaboration with fashion house Balmain, perfume Cé Noir, and production company Parkwood Entertainment. The size of Beyoncé’s stake in SirDavis remains unclear, with representatives for the star and LVMH yet to provide more information. The launch of SirDavis presents an opportunity for Beyoncé to further solidify her financial standing and perhaps move closer to billionaire status.

SirDavis could potentially bring Beyoncé closer to achieving billionaire status, following the success of other celebrity alcohol brands like Jay Z’s Ace of Spades champagne and D’ussé Cognac. With a price tag of $89.99 per 750ml bottle, SirDavis is set to ship as early as September. Alcohol has proven to be a lucrative business for celebrities, with notable success stories including Ryan Reynolds’ Aviation Gin, George Clooney’s Casamigos tequila, and Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Ciroc vodka and DeLeón tequila brands.

Beyoncé’s positioning in the industry is reflective of the trend of celebrities venturing into the alcohol business, with names like Dwayne Johnson, Kendall Jenner, Robert de Niro, and Aaron Paul also having their own brands. Beyoncé’s entry into the whiskey market follows the release of her first country music album, “Cowboy Carter,” earlier this year. It is interesting to note that she is not the first musician in the genre to launch a whiskey, joining a list that includes Daris Rucker, Tyler Hubbard, Brian Kelley, John Rich, Jason Aldean, and Willie Nelson, among others.

In terms of financial standing, Beyoncé was ranked 36th on Forbes’ list of Power Women last year and occupies the 45th spot on this year’s list of America’s wealthiest self-made women, with an estimated net worth of $760 million as of May. Her husband, Jay Z, has an estimated net worth of $2.5 billion, making him the 1,331st richest person globally. The LVMH conglomerate, the parent company of SirDavis, boasts a portfolio of luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Moët & Chandon, Tiffany, Dior, and more. Its chairman, Bernard Arnault, is the world’s third richest person with a net worth of $189.1 billion.
