Bethenny Frankel, known for her time on “Real Housewives of New York,” recently reflected on her past marriage to ex-husband Jason Hoppy on her podcast “Just B Divorced.” She admitted to overlooking several warning signs in their relationship, as she convinced herself to be more into him than she truly was. One red flag was when he stayed with her after a night out and claimed he left his car elsewhere, so he could ride with her before asking the driver to take him back downtown to get his car. Another was his desire to have a child early in their relationship due to her age, which she did not initially view as a red flag.

Frankel also mentioned that Hoppy’s charm turned into a toxic trait, and he made concerning comments regarding Nick Lachey’s divorce from Jessica Simpson, stating that Lachey should take whatever he can get from her. Despite warnings, Frankel proceeded with the relationship and quickly did a prenup at the advice of her lawyer, even though her lawyer advised against it. Money was a significant topic throughout their relationship due to her having more money than him, creating a power dynamic that she does not want to repeat in the future.

Despite recognizing these warning signs, Frankel admitted to talking herself into the relationship and being at a low, vulnerable point in her life at the time. She realized that it wasn’t a healthy dynamic and advised others to run if they aren’t certain about a relationship. She expressed regret for staying in the relationship while she was pregnant and not happy because of external pressures like being on a television show. Frankel and Hoppy got married in 2010 but split three years later, finalizing their divorce in March 2021.

Currently, Frankel is engaged to Paul Bernon, with whom she has been engaged to on and off since 2018. The experience with Hoppy has taught her valuable lessons, and she now stands by the idea that if there are doubts in a relationship, it is best to walk away quickly. Frankel’s candid reflections provide insight into the challenges she faced in her past marriage and how she has grown from the experience. Through her podcast and public statements, Frankel emphasizes the importance of listening to one’s instincts and not ignoring warning signs in relationships.
