The Metropolitan Municipality has taken action in response to the increasing complaints about caravans in recent days. As a result, it was determined that a large number of caravans were parked in the districts of Darıca, İzmit, Kartepe, Gölcük, and Karamürsel. It was found that these caravans had been parked in the area for a long time, causing difficulties for residents to find parking spaces for their vehicles.

According to a decision by the Provincial Traffic and Transportation Commission dated August 1, 2024, and numbered 2024/1056, caravan parking was banned in Darıca Millet Bahçesi A parking lot, Gölcük Değirmendere coastal strip, İzmit Cumhuriyet Mahallesi Gazi Street, Kartepe Eşme Mahallesi coastal strip, Karamürsel Altınkemer wedding hall parking lot, and Tepeköy Mahallesi Kordonboyu Street. The parking ban will take effect starting on August 12, Monday.

In order to prevent irregular parking in the parking lot behind the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality main building, the Provincial Traffic and Transportation Commission decided on August 5, 2024, and numbered 2024/1071 to designate areas J7, J8, J9, J10, and J11 as “Temporary Caravan Parking Areas”. Parking outside of these designated areas is prohibited while project work is ongoing to meet the need for caravan parking spaces in Kocaeli.

With the ban on caravan parking in certain areas and the designation of specific locations for temporary caravan parking, the Metropolitan Municipality aims to address the issue of caravans causing inconvenience to residents in various districts. The ongoing project work in Kocaeli is aimed at providing adequate parking areas for caravans to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and prevent unauthorized parking in the region. Residents are encouraged to comply with the new regulations and use the designated parking areas to avoid any inconvenience.
