A Boeing 737-800 aircraft belonging to Corendon Airlines, operating the Cologne-Gazipaşa route, had its front tire burst during landing at Gazipaşa Airport yesterday at around 10:45. As a result of the tire bursting, the aircraft made a landing on its front strut. There were 184 passengers and 6 crew members on board the plane, and fortunately, there were no injuries, but damage was done to the front strut.

The total of 190 people on board the aircraft were quickly evacuated from the runway. Following the efforts of the teams, the passenger aircraft was towed to the parking area last night. Dr. Hüseyin Keskin, General Manager and Chairman of the Board of State Airports Authority (DHMİ), made a statement on social media regarding the incident. He stated, “The Corendon Airlines aircraft, which had its front tire burst after landing at Gazipaşa Alanya Airport while operating the Cologne-Gazipaşa route, was towed to the parking area with a successful operation involving Antalya Airport Directorate of Firefighting and Rescue team. The cleaned runway was opened to traffic. Once again, get well soon, may God protect our nation and the aviation community from accidents and disasters.”

The quick response and successful operation by the Antalya Airport Directorate of Firefighting and Rescue team, along with other authorities, resulted in the safe evacuation of all passengers and crew from the stranded aircraft. The runway was cleared and opened for traffic after the aircraft was towed to the parking area. The General Manager of DHMİ wished for protection against accidents and disasters for the nation and the aviation community in his statement following the incident.
