“Spy Kids” actor Alexa PenaVega and her husband, “Big Time Rush” actor Carlos PenaVega, recently announced the heartbreaking news that their daughter, whom they named Indy Rex PenaVega, was delivered as a stillborn. This was the couple’s fourth child, and they expressed their sorrow in a joint statement on Instagram, stating that there are no words to adequately describe the loss they are feeling. Despite the pain, they found peace after a beautiful and peaceful delivery. They called their daughter Indy and shared that the journey has been painful yet full of peace.
Alexa PenaVega shared a pregnancy vlog from the hospital on March 18, revealing that she had been hospitalized for five days due to bleeding. She shared that her pregnancy had not been easy, as she experienced difficulties such as her water potentially breaking and the baby not moving as usual. However, the baby eventually started moving on the way to the hospital. PenaVega mentioned that she had a partial separation of her placenta from her uterus, which fortunately could be maintained. Despite the challenges, the couple found solace in the fact that their daughter had already changed their lives in many ways.
According to the CDC, approximately 21,000 babies are delivered as stillbirths every year in the U.S., a number similar to the amount of babies who die during their first year of life. The rate of early stillbirth has remained relatively consistent, while late and term stillbirths have seen a significant reduction. The PenaVegas did not disclose specific details about Indy’s birth but emphasized the profound impact she had on their lives. They shared their grief, expressing moments of feeling devastated and blessed by the time they had with their daughter. They shared that Indy had a striking resemblance to her father, with dark hair and all, and that their grief came in waves.
Former co-stars of the PenaVegas expressed their condolences for the couple’s loss, showering them with love and support during this difficult time. Big Time Rush commented on their Instagram post, offering thoughts and prayers for the whole family and sending love and support. Tiffany Thornton, known for her roles in Disney’s series, expressed her devastation at the news and offered prayers for the PenaVegas. She mentioned the profound loss of a tiny babe and prayed for Indy to send signs from heaven daily. The PenaVegas’ former co-stars and friends rallied around them, offering comfort and prayers as they navigate their grief.
