Accolade CEO Raj Singh and his wife Jill recently co-hosted a private fundraiser for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and VP nominee Tim Walz. The event, which was held in Seattle, was attended by a number of prominent figures, including Costco co-founder Jim Sinegal and Microsoft President Brad Smith. Singh, who has a long history of involvement in politics and community-building, expressed his support for the Harris-Walz ticket and their forward-thinking approach to issues affecting the tech industry, such as artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency regulation.

The fundraiser was a success, with tickets reportedly selling for as high as $250,000. Walz, the Minnesota governor, discussed themes related to the functioning of democracy, women’s reproductive health, and economic stimulus and growth during the event. Singh, who previously supported President Joe Biden’s campaign in 2020, sees these types of fundraisers as important opportunities to be an engaged citizen. He believes that protecting representative democracy and women’s rights are crucial issues that inspire his political engagement.

Singh, who co-founded the travel expense company Concur before joining Accolade, is deeply involved in the tech industry and recognizes the importance of certain key issues that affect people’s lives on a daily basis. He feels that Harris and Walz have a strong understanding of these issues, including the need for regulation around artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency. The fundraiser in Seattle was part of a larger fundraising push by Walz, who was scheduled to attend another event in California with Governor Gavin Newsom shortly after.

Accolade, the Seattle-based healthcare technology company that Singh now leads, went public in 2020. Prior to joining Accolade in 2015, Singh led Concur for over two decades before the company was acquired by SAP for $8.3 billion in 2014. Singh’s deep involvement in both the tech industry and politics has given him a unique perspective on the intersection of these two worlds. He believes that issues related to democracy and women’s reproductive rights are fundamental to creating a more just and equitable society.

The fundraiser in Seattle drew a diverse crowd of supporters, including former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll. The event was hosted at the residence of Jim Sinegal, in Hunts Point, Washington. Singh was impressed by the enthusiasm and energy around the Harris-Walz ticket, noting that their messages resonated with the audience. The event provided an opportunity for attendees to engage with the candidates on key issues and show their support for the Democratic ticket in the upcoming election.

Singh, who was in Prague visiting Accolade’s offices at the time of the fundraiser, remains committed to using his platform to support causes that he believes in. By hosting events like this fundraiser, he hopes to raise awareness and generate support for candidates who share his values and priorities. As the election draws closer, Singh and others like him are working to mobilize resources and support for the Democratic ticket in order to bring about positive change and progress in the political landscape.
