Residents of an apartment building in Gebze district were evacuated as firefighters extinguished a fire that broke out on the sixth floor of a 7-story building on 1827 Street in the Barış neighborhood. The fire was caused by an electric blanket that caught fire shortly after the homeowner, identified as H.B., plugged it in.

H.B., the homeowner, quickly called the emergency hotline 112 after her bed caught fire, leading to the dispatch of firefighters, paramedics, and police to the scene. As the firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, residents of the building were forced to evacuate onto the street due to the smoke and commotion.

The fire was eventually put out by the firefighters, but the bedroom where the fire originated was left unusable due to extensive damage. H.B., whose stress levels rose during the incident, received medical attention in an ambulance, although fortunately no injuries were reported.

An investigation into the cause of the fire was initiated by the police, as they sought to determine the exact circumstances that led to the incident. Despite the damage caused by the fire, quick action by emergency responders prevented a more serious outcome, ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents involved.
