Three Turkish soldiers were honored in a ceremony at the Tunceli Provincial Gendarmerie Command. The bodies of the martyrs, Specialist Sergeant Mehmet Aykanat, Specialist Sergeant Orhan Burak Büyükçaylı, and Corporal Doğan Kızılateş, were brought to the area wrapped in the Turkish flag and placed on a catafalque. After a prayer read by the Provincial Mufti Mustafa Şanver, the bodies of the martyrs were placed in funeral vehicles by their comrades and taken to Elazığ Airport. The ceremony was attended by Governor Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Brigadier General Bülent Baykal, Chief Public Prosecutor Ebru Cansu, Chief of Police Hakan Duman, deputy governors, district governors, agency heads, representatives of civil society organizations, police officers, and soldiers.
The soldiers were killed in a clash with terrorists during an operation in the southeastern province of Tunceli, and their bravery and sacrifice were honored in the ceremony. The Turkish nation mourns the loss of these heroes who gave their lives in service to their country.
