Five individuals were arrested in Tennessee over the weekend in connection to an attempted murder that took place in August 2023, leaving the victim with a skull fracture. The incident occurred when deputies responded to a report of an assault where a 29-year-old victim was found with a severe head injury. Unable to speak at the time, the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. He had called his family for help, reporting that he had been attacked by several individuals using a baseball bat, brass knuckles, and a cast iron skillet. Deputies found the victim’s vehicle at the scene with blood and a broken skillet nearby.

The Carter County Sheriff’s Office announced that the five suspects were charged based on an investigation into the incident, with indictments returned by the Grand Jury earlier in the month. The charges against the suspects included conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a weapon, tampering with evidence, and filing a false report. The suspects arrested were Jerry A. Carden Jr., Meesha Brieanne Williams, Kelvin Lynn Bradley Jr., Daniel A. Shearl, and Jeffery Scott Brooks Jr. All suspects were released on a $25,000 bond, except for Shearl, who remains in custody.

The victim’s family provided deputies with the names of the individuals involved in the attack, leading to the arrest of the five suspects. During the investigation, deputies gathered evidence from the scene, including the broken skillet and the victim’s bloody vehicle. Medical staff confirmed that the victim had sustained a skull fracture as a result of the assault. The suspects were charged with various crimes related to attempted murder and aggravated assault, as well as tampering with evidence and filing a false report.

Deputies located the victim’s vehicle at the boat ramp where the attack took place and processed the scene for evidence. The victim’s family reported that the victim had called them in distress, prompting them to contact law enforcement for help. The severity of the victim’s injuries prevented him from speaking with deputies initially, but he was later able to provide information on the individuals involved in the attack. The suspects were identified and arrested based on the victim’s statements and evidence gathered at the scene.

The suspects arrested in connection to the attempted murder case were Jerry A. Carden Jr., Meesha Brieanne Williams, Kelvin Lynn Bradley Jr., Daniel A. Shearl, and Jeffery Scott Brooks Jr. They were charged with multiple offenses, including conspiracy to commit second-degree murder and aggravated assault with a weapon. The arrests were made following an extensive investigation by the Carter County Sheriff’s Office, culminating in indictments returned by the Grand Jury.
