An ongoing dispute over the sharing of 11 plots of land in the Seydişehir district of Konya, which has been going on for 40 years, was resolved through the mediation system without the need for international notifications, discovery, or expert reports.
The fields left by Şerife Önal, who passed away in 1984 in Seydişehir, could not be shared for 40 years due to various reasons cited by the heirs.
Efforts initiated by family lawyer Ufuk Genç to resolve this situation inherited by the children and grandchildren of the heirs were blocked concerning the inheritance document.
Due to a fire that occurred years ago at the Seydişehir District Population Directorate and women who were married not being included in the inheritance documents, a lawsuit was filed to obtain the inheritance document.
After about a year of trials, the inheritance document, received after the expert report, was renewed twice through the court due to the death of two of the heirs at different times.
Following the court processes, the heirs, in order to avoid further delays in the process with other issues, applied to the mediation system for sharing and determination of shares on the fields instead of court.
At the end of the process led by lawyer Ufuk Genç and the mediator lawyer, the decision was made to refer the file to the sales office.
Lawyer Ufuk Genç stated that they had to go to court three times to obtain the inheritance document.
Genç mentioned that the heirs could not come to an agreement on the distribution of the inheritance for a long time.
As the number of heirs increased over time, Genç stated that the resolution of the dispute became even more challenging.
Genç foresaw that the resolution of the dispute through mediation method in a short period would provide a significant advantage.
He emphasized the importance of the inheritance document in terms of resolving partnership and disputes and stated that it was necessary to be obtained.
Once the inheritance document is obtained, if one or more of the heirs pass away, they will have to obtain the document again.
Genç highlighted the economic benefits of the mediation method for the parties involved, enabling the use of all communication tools, and resolving disputes in a friendly manner.

During the process, Genç expressed that he served as a party representative and provided all kinds of support to the mediator.
Stating that there were 30 parties involved in the process, including those living abroad, Genç mentioned that they did not have to deal with issues like notifications to those abroad thanks to mediation.
Genç stated that there was no need for measures such as exploration. He mentioned that there were no additional expenses incurred for appointing three experts separately.
By turning all these situations into an advantage for their clients and other parties involved in the mediation process, they quickly finalized the process.
Genç emphasized that the parties did not confront each other as plaintiff and defendant at the court, and the problem was solved within a month.
They concluded the dispute peacefully with a win-win approach, and everyone left happily by shaking hands.
One of the heirs, Yaşar Önal, stated that there had been a dispute among relatives concerning the fields since the death of his grandmother Şerife Önal 40 years ago.
He mentioned that they granted power of attorney to lawyer Ufuk Genç with the thought of resolving the issue, and they are very happy about the resolution.
He stated that the issue was resolved in a shorter period than expected.
Another heir, Ayla Önal, explained that she inherited the property from her late husband and did not have much knowledge about the situation, which had remained unresolved for 40 years.
Havva Önal, the eldest heir at the age of 87, shared that initially, the fields were cultivated by the heirs, but after everyone moved outside Seydişehir, the fields remained abandoned.
She expressed her initial fear of a lengthy legal process when the lawsuit was filed, but thanked God as the problem was resolved without any animosity with her family and friends and without causing any tension in relationships.
