According to a statement on the website of the Coast Guard Command, a group of irregular migrants in distress was reported off the coast of Urla district, prompting the dispatch of a Coast Guard boat to the area. Teams rescued 30 irregular migrants, including 14 children, from 2 dinghies pushed back into Turkish territorial waters by Greek elements.

In another incident off the coast of Seferihisar district, a fast motorboat was intercepted, and 22 irregular migrants, including 4 children, were apprehended. Following the rescue operation, the migrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for processing.

The increasing number of irregular migrants attempting to cross the Aegean Sea in unsafe conditions highlights the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region. The Coast Guard’s swift response and rescue efforts have prevented potential tragedies and saved the lives of many migrants in distress, including vulnerable children.

As the migration crisis persists, authorities are reminded of the importance of cooperation and coordination among countries to address the root causes of irregular migration and ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals involved. The rescue operations carried out by the Coast Guard serve as a reminder of the challenges and risks faced by migrants seeking a better life through dangerous routes.

The rescued migrants are now in the care of the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management, where they will undergo necessary procedures and assessments to determine their legal status and provide them with the assistance and support they require. The authorities continue to monitor and respond to incidents of irregular migration in the Aegean Sea to prevent further loss of life and protect the rights of all individuals involved.
