The Intelligence Branch Directorate and Yenişehir District Gendarmerie Command, affiliated with the Provincial Gendarmerie Command, started an operation based on information that M.S. and Ö.S. would bring counterfeit olive oil from Hatay to a rest facility in Yenişehir district.
After technical and physical surveillance, the vehicle in which the two suspects arrived in Bursa was stopped by gendarmerie teams in Karaköy neighborhood of Yenişehir district.
During the search of the vehicle, 3,000 liters of counterfeit olive oil, filled in cans and packed without labels, were seized by the gendarmerie. The authorities confiscated the olive oil.
The suspects were taken into custody and legal and administrative actions were taken against them for crimes such as “Violation of the Law on Veterinary Services and Plant Food Health No. 5996”, “Violation of Trademark Rights under Industrial Property Law No. 6769”, “Producing food substances in a manner that endangers human health”, and “Forgery in official documents”.

The smuggled olive oil was not only a violation of various laws but also posed a serious threat to public health. The counterfeit product was seized before it could reach consumers, ensuring that no one would be harmed by consuming it.
Counterfeit goods pose a significant risk to consumers, as they are often produced in unsanitary conditions and with subpar ingredients. The authorities’ quick action in intercepting the illegal olive oil shipment likely saved many people from potential health issues.
This incident highlights the importance of thorough surveillance and prompt intervention by law enforcement agencies in preventing the distribution of counterfeit goods. The successful operation conducted by the Intelligence Branch Directorate and Yenişehir District Gendarmerie Command serves as a reminder of the dedication of these teams to ensuring public safety and upholding the law.
The two suspects involved in the illegal olive oil smuggling operation are now facing serious charges, reflecting the gravity of their actions. The legal and administrative actions taken against them should serve as a deterrent to others who may be involved in similar illegal activities.
