Marco Angulo, a midfielder for FC Cincinnati, has died at the age of 22 following a serious car accident on October 7. Angulo, who was on loan to Ecuadorian team LDU Quito this season, succumbed to his injuries five weeks after the crash in Ecuador. The club expressed its grief and described Angulo as a joyful individual who was adored by those at FC Cincinnati.

The accident, which involved five people crashing into a roadside metal structure, has now claimed three lives. Roberto Cabezas Simisterra, who played for Independiente Juniors, and Victor Charcopa Nazareno also passed away. Angulo’s death was confirmed by LDU Quito, who expressed their condolences to his family and acknowledged the irreplaceable loss to the club.

Having made his mark on Ecuadorian football, Angulo played three times for his national side. The Ecuadorian Football Federation issued a statement hailing him as a great player and teammate. His contribution to football in the country has been significant.

Angulo started his professional football career with Independiente Juniors in his homeland. After a spell with Independiente del Valle, he moved to FC Cincinnati where he was scheduled to play until 2025. Over his football career, Angulo made a total of 30 first-team appearances for FC Cincinnati.

Before his untimely death, Angulo was playing on loan for LDU Quito, where he participated in 18 games, with his final game just a day before the tragic car accident. Throughout his career, he showcased promising talent that has now been prematurely extinguished.
