Five agricultural workers were injured, two fatally, after coming into contact with a high-voltage power line while harvesting lentils in a field. The incident occurred when a harvesting machine became entangled with the 245,000-volt power line. The workers who came into contact with the machine were identified as Şehriban Sibak, Bergüzar Baytuğ, Sefer Baytuğ, Fatih Baytuğ, and Ozan Baytuğ. Upon witnessing the incident, bystanders promptly alerted emergency services.

Health teams were dispatched to the scene following the emergency call. The injured workers were provided with initial medical assistance before being transported to the Hilvan Şehit Halit Şiltak State Hospital. Unfortunately, Fatih and Ozan Baytuğ succumbed to their injuries despite the efforts of medical professionals. The remaining three workers, Şehriban Sibak, Bergüzar Baytuğ, and Sefer Baytuğ, were transferred to Şanlıurfa Mehmet Akif İnan Training Hospital for further treatment due to the severity of their injuries.

Of the five injured workers, three were in critical condition, with two being pronounced dead at the hospital. Şehriban Sibak, Bergüzar Baytuğ, and Sefer Baytuğ were receiving medical care at the Şanlıurfa hospital’s additional service building. The incident is currently under investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the workers’ contact with the power line and to prevent similar accidents from occurring in the future.
