Mainoo scored his first senior goal in the FA Cup victory against Newport County in January, and followed it up by stunning Premier League strikes against Wolves and Liverpool. Still just 18, the midfielder earned a senior England debut against Brazil on March 23 and made his first international start against Belgium three days later. After impressing under Gareth Southgate, he’s in with a chance of making England’s squad for the upcoming European Championships in Germany. While Mainoo’s value to United is clear, though, his market value still lags behind that of a few other starlets. The frontman, valued at £47.1m on Transfermarkt at the time of writing, scored Brazil’s winner against the Three Lions. Still just 17, he hit double figures in Brazil’s Serie A last term after scoring his first goals in the competition the previous season. Real Madrid will be in for a treat when he joins the club on his 18th birthday. Evan Ferguson Brighton striker Ferguson made a rapid impact last season under Roberto De Zerbi. It’s been slower going this season, with three of his six goals coming via an early-season hat-trick against Newcastle. He’s still worth £51.3m, though, with a long contract extension helping to fend off interest from some of the Premier League’s big hitters. Alejandro Garnacho Mainoo’s Manchester United team-mate Garnacho is a little further down the line in his development. Barcelona star Gavi is the highest-valued teenager on Transfermarkt, at a massive £77m. Considering he already had a century of games for Spain and Barcelona combined before turning 19, it’s understandable to see him at the top. The midfielder played his 100th club game earlier this season after helping Barca win La Liga under Gavi. Sadly, though, an ACL injury sustained on international duty looks set to keep him out of Euro 2024. Rico Lewis Manchester City youngster Lewis is just above Mainoo on the list with a valuation of £32.5m, The versatile youngster broke into Pep Guardiola’s team last season and remains part of the manager’s plans this term.

An option at full-back or in midfield, the 19-year-old scored his first Premier League goals this season in City’s home and away meetings with Crystal Palace. He also made his senior England bow, playing the full 90 minutes in a Euros qualifier against North Macedonia in November. Joao Neves Benfica star Neves has become the latest Portuguese midfielder to attract Premier League attention. Indeed, were it not for Mainoo’s development, the 19-year-old might be even higher on United’s list of urgent targets. French forward Tel is another to have been linked with an Old Trafford switch. The Bayern Munich man, valued at £34.2m, was reportedly the subject of ‘contact’ from United in February but remains in Munich for now. Signed for £25m in the summer of 2022, Tel has been in and out of the Bayern side. The 19-year-old’s 12 goal contributions this term have come at a rate of one every 81 minutes, but he was left on the bench for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Arsenal. Lamine Yamal Spanish talent Yamal is one of the latest Barcelona stars fast-tracked into the first team. The £64.2m-rated 16-year-old is the youngest player on this list, but thoe in Catalunya will feel he’s more than deserving of his place.

Yamal was just 15 when he made his La Liga debut last season and has been a big part of Xavi’s plans this term, featuring in all but one of Barca’s league and Champions League games. The winger scored on his senior Spain debut against Georgia in September, and added a second goal for his country in the November break. Leny Yoro Another United target, Lille defender Yoro is also very much on the radar of other clubs. Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool have been linked with the centre-back, as have Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. Valued at £51.3m, midfielder Zaire-Emery has been a big part of Paris Saint-Germain’s shift to young local talent. The 18-year-old burst onto the scene last season, playing more than 30 times under manager Christophe Galtier, and has been even more of a fixture under Luis Enrique. Zaire-Emery contributed a goal and two assists in the Champions League group stage to help PSG escape a group of death, while his club form has also brought international recognition. The youngster scored on his senior France debut against Gibraltar in November, and also played an hour against Germany in March.
